Stray Days

August 19, 2010

My intention in the beginning of becoming a coowner of SD was NOT to run another sim game. My intention was to help a friend (so I wrongly thought) get a game off the ground and I offered my services as a coder as my part of the agreement, while the other part was Breeze dealing with the day to day running of the game. As I said back in the beginning of June when she abandoned me and SD, I was not going to run it. I was only willing to code, fix bugs, etc as time allowed.

April so kindly and selflessly offered at that time, even through her very busy life, to temporarily help me run SD and I thank her for doing so. She had agreed to stay until the end of the month, but I see no sense in putting off the inevitable.

It is not fair to SD players that they play a game that is not administered on a daily basis. Is SD gone for good you ask? I can't answer that question at the moment. I am only 1 person and at the moment I need to divert my energy and priorities elsewhere. All accounts will be disabled and if/when SD is back up and running all should be as it was before closing.

Zippy

This is unfortunate news for those who play the game or wanted to play the game. Just thought I'd post it here seeing as no one else has yet.

I know absolutely nothing about what went on between the two of them or with SD, as I never played. However I did want to mention that it is exactly this kind of attitude that frustrates me. Everyone has their personal conflicts, but they are between individuals, and are not something that SD's community nor the rest of the internet for that matter needs to be informed of.

If two people were running a business, and one of them was not following through with something (in the eyes of their partner), the first person wouldn't post signs up on the business windows: "Well, we WOULD have a better store, if Joe had done what he said he was going to do." No xD It really just looks completely unprofessional.

I just find the entire thing to be in very bad taste :/

Future sim owners, for the love of pete, please leave your personal conflicts to yourself xD It doesn't make you look any better to call out someone else.

I have seen that quite a few times and it is frustrating. All the while everyone else is getting angry and whomever is getting the fingers pointed to. Not to mention there is two sides to every story. xD

I agree. I think that one of the most unprofessional things, whether it be in a full-fledged SIM game (which most likely is an actual LLC) or even in a simple Proboards owned role playing site, is Admin-to-Admin warfare. Not only is it unprofessional, but it can completely ruin the game play for the clients because it places guilt upon them to take sides or try to play moderator themselves. After all, is not the point of Administration to serve the members? Kinda like a business, right? The best run businesses put emotions aside and pledge to their clients whole heartedly, taking the good of the site into considerations before personal emotional comfy-ness. Personal problems prohibiting time and commitment is one thing, personal drama is another.

Solution? Take things behind the woodshed and get it straightened out away from the member's eyes. More importantly, if you cannot get along with your partner to begin with or at least discuss realistic contracts (legit websites need legit owners), then perhaps beginning the project should be reconsidered.

It's sad, but all too common. :/

I agree with you, Frivi and Forte. It is unprofessional and saddening. A simple "We're closed" would have worked just as well. Keep everything between yourselves so that you may have a chance to sort things out in the future. Pointing fingers will make the other mad and unwilling to cooperate, which is never good for any party.

It could just have been a message staying they are closed down. That's incredibly unprofessional and immature, to bring their personal relationship out there like that, and practically start bashing the other Admin. My goodness, that's just sad.
