Business Name Suggestions?

Posts: 178 Group: Members Member #6 Joined: Jun 30, 2010	My uncle and I are planning to start a business asap, but we need a name. About the business: So far we plan on just doing web design and development, including games. My game Equirealm will be our first and be joint owned by us both, as well as Zeltopia (a game I have lots of plans for but am yet to start development), Kazzira (a work in progress, but might be sold) and Age of Kings (a game my uncle is working on to help boost his programming knowledge). Not only will we be designing and coding/programming, we hope to get into the art side of things too. I have my digital art (photomanips, but I'm trying to get into doing speedpaint and digital painting - which'll be so much easier if I had a scanner), and my uncle is pretty much trying out the same. So we can then fully develop games without needing to rely on an artist (for equirealm, don't worry it's too late to ask Aomori to stop with the artwork ^^). In the business's future I hope that my uncle and I can build the business up enough to buy a shop. From there we can fix customers pc's, sell parts and make custom pc's (and gaming ones) as well as doing our online work. Names we've thought of so far: Gemons, Gesang, Hanong, Vasing, Sasitt, Ayzber, Juzsit, Arthesy, Anthosy, Jazmef, Artbare, Jelmen, Janten, Jazmar, Jarthony, Nycom, Antaz, Jazant, Jazny, Jazartony, Antjuz, Aldaiz, Juzant, Jozand, Jucint, Auzans, Janops, Auzitt, Jazont, Jazthony, Jazanut, Hoonaz, Jathon, Jathmin, Aztho, Zantae. (these are just some random ones and mixes of our names, Anthony & Jazmin) So any suggestions? I'm holding this as a contest on a game I play, so I'm quite happy to compensate you (web design, coding, graphic art, etc - within reason), if we pick a suggestion from you ^^

Its getting harder and harder....some people just look at ordinary objects and come up with amazing names, for example; 'Comet' and 'Pets at home' I mean, all are pretty good names. I will try think up something for you! XDD

Posts: 288 Group: Members Member #43 Joined: Jul 13, 2010	Personally I don't like strange "made-up" names because I think they're hard for people to remember either because 1) they're difficult to spell or 2) they're difficult to say. The reason there are so many generic name is because they're easy to remember. I'd have to say don't beat yourself up trying to come up with something 100% original and go for the rememberability (is that a word? idk) factor instead.

Names that are easier to remember are more likely to get more hits than ones that are comprised of made-up words. It's partially because they'll come up more often on search engines (you can type in a related word and get to it) but if you have a made-up word, you have to search for that exact word. Simple and unoriginal is sometimes better than complex and creative. On the other hand, having non-made-up words that are unique only to you is sometimes good. ex. My company is called by the same name that I have been using for selling my artwork for years. Kane Stagg. Search Kane (such as the band), I get hits. Search Stagg or Stag and I still get hits.

the rainbow Posts: 194 Group: Members Member #85 Joined: Aug 6, 2010	I'm thinking something Tech or something Online.. since your business isn't specific to one aspect I wouldn't want to suggest a name like 'something programming / web design'. I'll come back to this after more thought. Could I maybe have some more details bout the two of you? It could help with coming up with a name more personal to you!
