Have you always wanted to run a Sim but have neither the money or complete knowledge to do it? I am looking for someone (Site Manager) to run a basic Sim concept I am working on. It's nothing fancy or ground breaking, but its mainly designed to give someone (or a few people) the chance to try their hand at running a Sim Information This is a Horse Sim. It is aimed at ALL ages and will have strict Mod Guidlines and Censoring within public areas (Forums, Messages, Chat, Profiles etc) It is currently very early in development (basic login/signups/user accounts up and working) and I currently have no estimated completion time frame. I have many projects/commissions I am working on so I work on this whenever I have time The website will stay in my control financially (hosting, domain name, coding, art will be covered by me) All coding/concepts remain my property. Like I said, this project is designed to give someone their first feel for running a Sim. I will remain to code/bug fix but the Site Manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the site, direction of the site, moderation team etc. Interested? Read More! - You MUST be over 18 - You MUST be honest, reliable and committed to this project. I'm not about to hand the reins of a website on to anyone. I will make serious considerations to all applications. - I will not be allowing any URL information or accounts until the site is at least 80% complete (I hate to feel rushed...lol) - At this time, we can then discuss any coding changes/add ons etc desired - Backend file access will not be granted until you have proved committed to the project - There will be a comprehensive Admin Area for ease of us - There MAY be an option to buy the site outright for the right person (Payment plans can be arranged) Still Interested? (please fill in...these are basic questions) 1) How old are you? (can be roughly for the age concerned..lol) 2) Why do you feel this sounds like something for you? 3) What previous experience do you have with running/moderating a site? 4) Do you have any coding experience? If so what? 5) Name one thing you would like to see in a Horse Sim? 6) If you were to pick a Mod Team, what would you look for? How would you run it? 7) How much time would you commit to the site? 8) What do you feel you could bring to make this site successful? Thank you I will take all applications into consideration but I do reserve the right to keep this open until the right person is found You are more than welcome to PM me about this Edited by Avalon, Jul 14 2011, 08:05 AM.

I'm really interested in this, it is an amazing opportunity. :3 1) How old are you? (can be roughly for the age concerned..lol) I'm 18 2) Why do you feel this sounds like something for you? Because I have played horse games for years and I feel I can manage the site and I know what to expect. I am online nearly every day and will enjoy the community the site has to offer. I have a love for horses and sim games so together this sounds like something that I would really like to be part of. 3) What previous experience do you have with running/moderating a site? I have been a moderator on a horse sim game before. (HP) As well as various forum sites. That was an exciting experience to be able to be part of a sim. Also I have the time to be online most of the day so other staff members and players can contact me at nearly every second of the day. 4) Do you have any coding experience? If so what? HTML and CSS. I have limited php knowlege however I am working on that. 5) Name one thing you would like to see in a Horse Sim? A caring community of players, this is an important aspect that I will do my best to manage and sustain. Without the players the game is nothing. I like to try and keep all members happy (within reason) to ensure they are happy playing the game. I like to take on board all their ideas for the site as well as any problems or concerns they have about anything. 6) If you were to pick a Mod Team, what would you look for? How would you run it? Someone with initiative when dealing with situations, as well as someone who is relaxed and would handle situations in a mature manner. Someone who is of a mature age maybe 16 or 18+? I would run the mod team like a staff community and hold meetings so my staff know what is going on with the game and what they need to be doing. I want them to feel they are part of a team and can help each other or come to me if they are worried about something. I need to be able to trust them and I want them to be able to trust me. 7) How much time would you commit to the site? I will be on every day. Around 6 hours a day, sometimes more. 8) What do you feel you could bring to make this site successful? Initiative when working and thinking about new ideas. This is important for a site to be always one step ahead of your competition. I will never stop thinking of ways to improve the site. I can advertise and I know a massive community of equine sim people who will play the game. I will try and keep the site as active as possible by holding competitions for players to get involved in. I will try and make it a unique experience for players so they feel they want to play the game rather than another game. Feel free to ask me any more questions or if you want me to elaborate on something. Thanks for your time. I really hope you consider me. ~ aur |

1) How old are you? 19 2) Why do you feel this sounds like something for you? I have been very interested in the idea of running my own sim game for quite some time, and have got a pretty detailed plan about what I want. At this point I am revising my ideas, as well as saving up money for the development. I have often wondered about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into a sim, and have asked around a bit to get a general idea, but there will be no better way for me to find out if I can do it than to get some actual practise in. 3) What previous experience do you have with running/moderating a site? I have never run or moderated a sim site before, though would love to have a chance to do so. The best I've had is owning and moderating a number of small-medium rpg sites 4) Do you have any coding experience? If so what? I am ok with html and css, but nothing special with either. I do wish to learn more, and am planning on learning with my partner, as he is currently studying IT and programming, and he will be learning php and other scripting languages next year, along with general website development. 5) Name one thing you would like to see in a Horse Sim? Something as close to real life as possible, without compromising the gameplay in the process. I love games that take time to build up high quality animals, so that many generations are needed to get champions, yet at the same time not making it impossible for the newest players to get anywhere. I know this sounds a little contradictory, but I think it's possible. 6) If you were to pick a Mod Team, what would you look for? How would you run it? First of all I'd rather look out for people I believe will be able to do the job well, instead of having anyone and everyone apply for the job, then have to go through and decide who is reliable and who is telling the truth. To begin with I would definitely look for prior experience to get a good base for the team started. Later on I would consider people with no mod experience, but who show potential and work in with the starting mod team to get them involved and teach them what they need to know. As for running the team this is partly where I need experience with myself. I would definitely work closely with them, but other than that I would have to discuss with them (and preferably other site owners maybe) about the best way to work things. 7) How much time would you commit to the site? This would definitely vary day to day. I will admit that on some days I won't have any more than maybe 2 hours, but will have at least 3 days a week completely free for whatever needs doing. 8) What do you feel you could bring to make this site successful? A new perspective on a lot of things. Many ideas I have had in the past are very different to the conventional sim, even as far as the basic set-up of animals and sports competitions. I feel that I have the ability to learn what's needed and use that knowledge to benefit the site. I have been a part of many sims, some from the very beginning, and I have seen a lot of what works and what doesn't. I also like to think my years of being simply a player on many games (as opposed to mod/admin) will help me keep in mind about what the game is like from the player's point of view, especially because I couldn't run a game without being an active part in playing it also. Thank you for reading and I really hope I get a chance to work with you on this. Vulpini |

1) How old are you? 38 (gosh I feel old when I tell people that, lol) 2) Why do you feel this sounds like something for you? I am very new to PSU, but I have been lurking and reading here for a couple months. I finally decided to create an account as my interest in creating a game of my own has begun to grow. I would very much like the opportunity to run a game that someone who is more experienced had created. To me it would be something of a mentoring experience, and it would allow me to learn and grow rather than feeling as though I was jumping into something I don't completely understand. 3) What previous experience do you have with running/moderating a site? I have moderated message boards in the past, as well as working as a helper on an RP MUD. I have experience 'moderating' my four kids, does that count? 4) Do you have any coding experience? If so what? I know basic HTML and CSS. I don't have a lot of other coding experience, but I learn fast and I have no problem at all looking things up or seeking out help when I need it. 5) Name one thing you would like to see in a Horse Sim? Just one thing? I would like to see a sim that has more interactive training and care. Most places tend to be very HorseLand simplistic, and I feel that the repetition of just clicking can be a big reason that people leave a game. Of course you have to click, however having feedback for each click and maybe some sort of training strategy to figure out. I think that training could be as complex and fulfilling as genetic coding for colors. Suitability for certain types disciplines included in genetics would also be something I would like to see. I really could go on and on here. 6) If you were to pick a Mod Team, what would you look for? How would you run it? I would look for people who are mature and thoughtful, but I would also want to find a diverse group who have strengths to offer. I would want people who are interested becuase they like to help and care about the game rather than people who are just looking at being a MOD as a power trip or becuase it's a popularity contest. I would want a handful of people who are both experience and new. I think that a mix of both would allow for new ideas and points of view along with people who can offer up solutions that they know already works. I think that the most important things I would be looking for would be reliability, trustworthiness, and people who are team players. The best way to find people like that is really just to take your time and get to know people. 7) How much time would you commit to the site? I know that I could put at least 5 - 8 hours five days a week, as well as weekends, easily. I know that day to day how much time I would need to devote would change and since I don't work outside the home and my kids are in school full time I actually have a good bit of time to devote. (again feeling old, lol) 8) What do you feel you could bring to make this site successful? I feel that I am a people oriented person who doesn't fluster easily, gets a long well with others. I am also very well organized, a creative thinker, and I have been a horse freak since I first said the word horse. I am extremely detail oriented and like to take my time and do things right. I think that when it comes to a game those things are important because it can be so easy to get caught up in trying to go fast due to pressure. |

Quick Update I felt it might be a good idea to add a quick update in regards to this project just to keep all those interested in this informed and not thinking I have forgotten! So Whats Happening? The inital coding is going well. Like with any game coded from scratch it is taking time. I want to get it coded to within an inch of its life to ensure I am not playing catch up once its 'ready' Most of the major areas/coding jobs are completed. I am awaiting some art back from the artist in regards to the horses so until then I am unable to do the HUGE breeding script but deffo looking forward to this element Now its just doing the smaller elements and fine tuning/bug fixing the current game play (with help from some friends!) I have an estimated initial development stage completion for roughly Jan/Feb 2012 So What Then? I will message all those that have shown interest in this. There will be some that their circumstances have changed to I need to find out who is still on board. These will then be asked a few further information searching questions. Those that I then want to take further will be given invite codes to sign up for the site. This is then the testing/further development stage. I will be asking for input/suggestions for growing on the initial plans, bug fixing and (for me) coding in the Admin/Moderation side of the game This is when we get to know each other. I feel it is important that anyone that I consider for the Management Team; we build a good working relationship Anyhoos, Ive started to babble now! |
