Siminar 2012 UK MeetingUp?

This is really just to test the waters to see if this would be something the UK PSU/Siminar supporters would be interested in

I thought about this for 2011 but didn't really think it though much but if I get my feelers out now, it may be an option for 2012 (that is of course if we do Siminar for 2012!!)

Would anyone be interested in a kind of meet-up/meeting over Siminar? So Players/Sim Owners/Coders/Artists and anyone inbetween getting together over the weekend, discussing Sims, doing live presentations, Art Classes, Coding Sessions and stuff like that.

I manage a Hotel here in Halifax, West Yorkshire and we have a meeting room that would be ideal for this. We could broardcast Siminar on a huge Proxima Projector/Screen. It not massive but would accommodate something like this easily. Obviously it would be free (thats the best bit!!) and we have hotel rooms if peeps wanted to stay over (I could prehaps try to work out a deal)...good restaurant on site as well

Anyway, its just me musing this over so please let me know what you all feel about this

I would totally be there. It'd be great to meet others face to face and I feel it would be really beneficial from my point of view, plus a lot of fun!

The only downside I could see is if we're making a presentation next year and it's live over the Siminar weekend we would have to present in front of others, which I personally would poop myself about. I don't mind doing the classes etc but I'm an awful public speaker, but I'd be more then happy to come along and listen to everyone else!

I thought about this Ty. If anyone was doing a presentation too, there is no reason why they cant go into one of the hotel rooms to do it if they feel uncomfortable doing it in front of everyone.

If we DID go ahead with this, I would be booking a room myself so they could use my room (as long as it was tidy...lol!!)

And I thought it would be not only great to be able to share views/opinions in a live format (sometimes its very hard to come across how you want online) but also a really great oppotunity to meet everyone. There are people I have been speaking to/know for YEARS and have never met them :P I know a few of ME players would be super interested in this

And yes, fun too! No reason why we couldnt pop into Halifax for one of the evenings also; bowling, Cinema should be open by then too. The more I can save on the actual venue and accommodation, the less it costs everyone.

And, no reason why our Ameican peeps couldn't come over? (I don't want to leave you out guys! But I know how expensive flights and stuff can be)

I would love it. I'm in America though so it would be sort of hard to get over there. My problem would also be my parents, never in a million year would they let me go over until I was 18. For me it would be weird as I'm probably a lot younger than most of you and the age difference would be awkward. But other than that I feel like its a great idea and could really bring PSU to a whole different level. (:

I'd love to attend something like this.. my only concern would be, because most of the sim community tends to be either in the US or Europe/rest of the world.. how many would actually be there? xD

I'm not sure if it would be worth the effort if there were only 5-6 people turning up haha. If there was a decent amount then I'd definitely like to attend :)

Its more just a meet up for Siminar than like an actual conference type thing on its own (now that would be awsome!)

I just thought sitting there on my lonesome with just my PC last Siminar was a bit boring and would have been fun to have done it with like minded people

Maybe we could get something similar in the US, book a hotel, and use a Skype or something to communicate.

I'd jump on this, even if it were just me, Avalon, and Ty! :) it would be great fun but would of course be ideal to have a few more people. I love the idea of getting together for Siminar! :) We could totally do a live webcam broadcast and give everyone attending Siminar a wave! xD

I'd be up for the idea, would be a bit of a drive for me as I'm in the south west x] If enough people show up though it'd be worth it, hopefully I'll have something more to show for myself by then ^^
