Sometimes when I am in the mood to code, I will get on other websites (not necessarily horse ones) and search around to see what players are suggesting, to get ideas flowing and see what people want. I was wondering if anyone else ever did this? |

Yep, all the time. Best way to figure out what players are wanting out of their games. ^^ |

Just be careful you are not taking ideas the owners want to add themselves otherwise you may get into some sticky situations, especially if they are ideas that are relatively unique. MysticalEquine works very closely with its players on suggestions for the development of the site working along the ethos that its THEIR game and I simply develop their ideas. I know you cant stop suggestions being copied that out there in the public domain (hell, its happened to me a few times already) I would just be a little careful on how you use them and where their original suggestions have actually come from. I have learnt recently to research ideas more before I act on them to ensure it doesn't just look like I've been trawling other games for ideas. |

I do it a lot, particularly for non-gameplay related things, like additions to the forums, player tools, etc. It's a good way to see what kinds of fundamental features players would like but are lacking on other sims. Gameplay-wise, though, I think it's best to stick with your own community and get them involved as Av said. |
